BN 977 heads west at M.P. 377.0, about 3 miles west of Mojave, CA. with a late afternoon shot, on Saturday, January 15, 2005. I couldn't resist parking my truck at an "odd" angle, but it does allow a good view of the tracks from both directions. M.P. 377.0 is one of my favorite locations on the Mojave Subdivision to photograph the action, as all westboud trains are struggeling 2.33% grade, which can be, simply put, spectacular to watch. There are endless possibilities to vary the shots, as there are many small hills, cuts and bushes. Not to mention, it's quite close to Mojave so you're never very far away from that Big Mac. Since CalTrans has re-routed the highway around and away from Mojave, you don't have to put up with as much noise from cars and trucks. All in all, a very pleasant place to watch trains.
