BNSF 5473 heads a very unusual and colorful lash-up, as it waits in the "hole" at Caliente, CA, on January 14, 2005. I don't recall the last time I saw four different roads represented in a lash-up of four units. On Tehachapi, almost anything is possible. The fog has mostly cleared, but enough remains to provide a somewhat ethereal effect. Four different roads are represented: BNSF 5473 is on the point, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific units follow, and quite an unusual foreign visitor from Canada is the last unit in the lashup. Tehachapi at it's best!
