If you've ever been to the movies, and you've ever seen a steam engine in action at the movies, you can bet your bottom dollar that you've seen the Sierra Railroad, up-close and personal, as the Sierra Railroad has starred in many TV series and movies, and is now known as "The Movie Railroad."

Join us on a steam double header from Jamestown to Chinese Camp, in 1975.

Today's Sierra Railroad survives on hauling logs, wood chips, paper products, and contract movie work.  The Sierra Railroad is a not-so-typical shortline railroad that spans the Sierra foothill country from Oakdale to Sonora, California, and does a brisk business in hauling diversified freight to the local communities, plus operating many special trains on weekends, powered by steam locomotives, which is an eye-opener anywhere in the U.S.A., in the 21st century.  Enjoy our Sierra Railroad page!
