Since I live in Roseville, CA, at the west end of Donner pass and at the base of the Sierras, I listen to Donner Pass area railroad frequencies quite a bit, as I work on my web sites. The list of frequencies below are the currently-used frequencies over Donner Pass, on the line that runs from Roseville to Reno, as of January, 2006. For more information on Sierra Railroading, be sure to check out Altamont Press, as they have the latest information on everything to do with railfanning in California and beyond. 160.320 - Omaha Dispatcher 74, Sparks to Rocklin, primary channel used on "The Hill." 161.550 - Omaha Dispatcher 74, Sparks to Rocklin. 160.875 - Roseville Dispatcher 57, used in the Roseville/Rocklin area. 160.890 - PBX, Mount Vaca, used in the western portion of "The Hill." 160.950 - PBX, Cisco Butte, used from the Auburn area east to Sparks. 161.400, 160.830, 160.800 - Roseville yard frequencies So, go ahead, program these frequencies into your scanner, as these are all the frequencies that you'll need to enjoy the Donner Pass railroad action.
