Early Wednesday evening, December 30, 2009 I was wandering in the vicinity of Articulo 123 and Constitución in Tijuana's Zona Centro, and I spotted a modest little hot dog cart on the southwest corner of the street, staffed by only one guy.  The side of the cart read "Hot Dogs Hamburguesas" and featured a drawing of a hamburger and a hot dog on the side of it, but the modest little cart didn't appear to have a name.  The one guy at the cart appeared to be quite busy grilling bacon wrapped hot dogs, which are the norm for the Tijuana hot dog scene.  It's almost impossible for me to pass up a hot dog cart in Tijuana, so I walked up to this guy, plunked down a dollar bill, and ordered a hot dog.  In the process, I asked the proprietor the name of his operation, and he just shrugged and replied "Hot Dogs."

Just to be different, I ordered a hamburguesa from the guy, but he said he wasn't serving hamburgers tonight, only hot dogs.  Some day, I'll order a hamburger in Tijuana, but since hot dogs were the only item on the menu, I ordered a hot dog.

The cart may not have a name, but they make delicious Tijuana-style hot dogs.  The hot dogs are wrapped in bacon, and grilled over a propane grill.  Despite the fact that Av. Constitución is the primary street in downtown, where locals shop (as apposed to Av. Revolución, which caters mostly to tourists,) the street isn't well-lit, so this guy used a propane lantern to illuminate his operation.  Modesty aside, his hot dogs are great, and loaded with catsup, diced white onions, mustard and mayonnaise.  This guy was so fast preparing my hot dog that I only had a chance to get off one shot before he handed the hot dog to me.

This is the first time that I've had the chance to enjoy the cuisine at this particular hot dog cart, and the next time I'm in the vicinity, I'm sure that I'll grab another hot dog, as I'm a sucker for Tijuana bacon wrapped hot dogs.
