Mexican culture has been shaped by the Catholic Church, as the Catholic religion was imported into Mexico by the Spainards, and the Catholic faith embraces Christmas as the celebration of the birth of Christ. In Mexico, La Navidad is a family event, and many cities and towns hold holiday celebrations in the town square. Naturally, Reynosa is no exception to the holiday celebrations. December 12, 2003 found Jerry Flinn at Reynosa, witnessing a typical holiday celebration, which celebrates the birth of Christ, and traditional Mexican culture.

Photo: This little guy is dressed in traditional Mexican clothing, sporting the Mexican national colors of red, white and green. Note the painted on moustache and the goatee; mom and dad have a sense of humor! Thanks for joining us for the Christmas, 2003 celebration in the park at Reynosa, Mexico. Feliz Navidad!
