Bagdad Beach, located on the Gulf Coast, is as far east as you can travel in the Mexican state of Tamulipas, as it marks the  eastern end of Mexican Federal Highway 2. Did you know that during the American Civil War that Bagdad was an important shipping port for the Confereracy's cotton exports?  Today, Bagdad Beach, or Playa Bagdad is an important coastal playground and gettaway for many residents of northeastern Mexico.  Join me, as we tour the interesting town of Bagdad Beach, Tamulipas, Mexico.

We spend a day at  Bagdad Beach, admiring the scenery and just enjoying ourselves.

Many fishermen make their living at Bagdad Beach, as it's a major fishing town.

Beach vendors claim their territory at Bagdad Beach, and we visit a few of them.

Bagdad Beach is a fishing port, so the town sports many fine restaurants that serve... fish!

Bagdad Beach isn't Santa Cruz, Coney Island or Daytona Beach, but it's a fun place to visit.  Don't even think about eating a fish taco, as they don't exist on the east coast of Mexico.  Fish tacos are a "Baja thing..." but if you're looking for a fine seafood meal, look no further than Bagdad Beach.
