Tucked away, high up in the Sierra De San Pedro Martir is a little-known jewel: Parque Nacional Sierra De San Pedro Martir, which shatters all stereotypes that a casual tourist has of Baja California. October 2, 2007 I had the opportunity to take a day trip to the park, and I was awed by the breathtaking scenery and the unspoiled wilderness contained within the park's 250 square kilometers. Join me on a visit to the park by clicking on the link of choice below. About the Parque: What is it? Where is it? What sort of attractions and services does it offer the visitor? Read all about the park, and check out some of the many digital photos that I've posted. The Road to the Park: Contrary to popular belief, you don't need four wheel drive to reach the park, as the gates of the park are reached via a well-maintained paved road. Vallecitos Meadow: A beautiful alpine meadow, with a rustic campground, and lots of room to relax, with four wheel drive trails leading to popular destinations. National Observatory: A premier destination for scientists and astronomers, this building house a huge telescope and is situated on a craggy peak offering spectacular views in all directions. Mexican Military Operations: Sadly, the Mexican Army conducts operations within the park, in an attempt to ferret out and destroy illegal drug activity. You're not supposed to take photos, but I did anyway...
