Mexicali is a large city of around 900,000 in population, and is located across the border from Calexico, California. It's the capital of the Mexican state of Baja California, and in many ways, is a misunderstood city.  Click on the thumbnail of interest to tour this fascinating city with me.

This chapter will introduce you to Mexicali, "the city that captured the sun."

Border crossings are always interesting.  Here, I cross the border to Mexicali and return.

Mexicali's El Centro is the downtown area located next to the U.S. border.

Just east of downtown is a very interesting part of town, along Calle Obregon.
