How often do you see a giant faux dairy cow perched atop a mini mart? Well, if you're traveling along Elkhorn Blvd. in Rio Linda, CA, near the state capitol of Sacramento, you'll be greeted with this unusual landmark. As a hilarious aside, after I took these photos, the owner, complete with turban, came running out excitedly yelling and waving his arms at me. In heavily-accented English, he shouted "No takeee pictures! Dis es private property" as he hurridly copied down the license plate number of our minivan. I basically told him to take a jump in Folsom Lake! Heck, if he hadn't made such a fool of himself, I probably would have told him that his exotic cow was going to be published on the world wide web and that he'd become instantly famous. Perhaps as a moron?

An interesting note is that of my last visit to the area of January 2, 2007, the huge cow has been removed from the roof of the building. Maybe someone was reading the article that I published about this ridiculous exhibition, and decided that the cow, and the turban guy who managed the store, had to go. We'll never know the answer to many of these questions...
