February, 1972 - My brother Michael and I were tooling around Lake McClure in Mariposa County (CA) on a muddy trail when we managed to get our highly modified '62 Chevy stuck.  We had a high-lift jack "wannabee" with us, so using the "stack-and-jack" method, we were able to get ourselves out of the mess.  After we got ourselves out of this mess, we were able to "wheel" ourselves up to Exchequer Dam and enjoy the fantastic scenery.

I know, this isn't your dad's 1962 Chevy, but that is what it really is underneath.  It's stuck, but it's licensed and insured in the state of California in February of the year 1972.  Yeah, this baby was street-legal, and was a really an eye-opener at the gas pump.  Not to mention our "Chevy" was a one-of-a-kind,  and a real piece of conversation as we were dragging the main on 17th street, in our hometown of Merced, California on most Friday nights, listning to "Wolfman Jack" on XERB.  Boy, those were the days, errr, nights!  It was also a hit at the stock car races held every Saturday night durring the summer.   Every girl wanted to ride with us in the thing.  Boy, it was was better than cherry vodka or ripple-type KoolAid.  Again, my brother Michael took this photo.  Thanks, Michael.  By the way, if this stuck had occurred later, our radio would have probably been tuned to Wolfman Jack.
