Sunday, August 8, 2004: I awoke to another beautiful morning! I really wasn't hungry and I was in a hurry to move, so I packed up camp, drove to the dirt road, then the main road, and didn't stop until I reached Henness Pass. By then I was hungry, so I stopped to make a "Sierra breakfast" of potatoes O'Brien, eggs and salsa.
Left: Leaving camp, early in the morning. I like to camp near meadows, in secluded areas. Right: The summit of Henniss Pass. Next, it was travelling through a rather-uneventful area west on F.R. 21, skirting Jackson Reservoir and Bowman Reservoir. I managed to take a lot of time to explore many of the side roads, but mostly it was a drive through the forest, on Class-1 dirt roads. Left: Potatoes O'Brien cooking at Henness Pass. Right: Cooking fried eggs, while I'm parked at Henness Pass. Such a delight while four-wheeling in the Sierra Nevada! Naturally, I have to inclue a link to a recipe that will tell how to cook my favorite Sierra Nevada breakfast.... Or, click on the photo to get the recipe from our sister web site...
Left: Jackson Reservoir. Right: Bowman Resevoir, in the Tahoe National Forest.
Photos: Water flows out of the spillway at Jackson Resevoir. I followed F.R. 21 west for most of the day, until late afternoon, when I suddenly realized it was time to camp. I found a Class-2 trail that climbed up a small ridge and made camp for the night. Altogether, a very laid-back, enjoyable day on the trail.
