High frequency nets are one of my favorite aspects of the great hobby of Amateur Radio. Here are a list of nets that I check into on a regular basis, and if they have a web site, you'll find a link to their site. Local Time refers to Pacific Time, either Standard or Daylight, depending upon the time of year, and of course UTC is just what it says, UTC. All frequencies are LSB, unless noted. California Traffic Net: Meets at 18:00 local time on 3906 KHz. This net is one of my favorites, as Net Control calls out the QTH of each member, so you can get a good idea of band conditions. Very friendly group of folks. Western Public Service System: Formal roll call is at 19:30 local time, but early check-ins start at 18:00, and late check-ins are taken until the net closes, usually about 21:00. Held on 3952 KHz. This net rocks! California Amateur Radio Service Net: Meets at 11:00 local time, Monday through Friday on 7248 KHz to handle traffic, exchange signal reports, and discuss Amatuer Radio. Features emergency power test first Friday in the month. Northern California Net: NCN/2 is the slow speed CW session of NCN. This net welcomes check-ins' from novice to experts and is held every evening at 21:30 on 3575 KHz, CW. Mission Trail Net: The Mission Trail Net is an organization of Amateur Radio Stations handling non- commercial messages FREE of charge for the general public. Held on 3856 KHz at 20:00 local time, every evening. Oregon Emergency Net: Meets daily at 18:00 local time on 3980 KHz, and is a traffic net for the state of Oregon. All stations are welcome, but you must be an Oregon resident to have voting rights. Oregon Weather Net: Meets early in the morning at 07:30 local time on 3990 KHz to exchange weather information among campers, RV'ers, and folks interested in weather in the State of Oregon. Beehive Net: Passes traffic between Utah stations, and stations all over the Mountain West. Meets at 1800 UTC daily on 7272 KHz. WARFA Net: Advertises that they "Communicate to the world through friendship," and these guys are a friendly bunch. Meets at 20:00 local time on 3908 KHz. Noontime Net: Meets daily around 11:40 local time on 7268.5 KHz and 3970 KHz, but I've never heard much action of the 75 meter side. Check out their web site, as this frequency is also used by the RV crowd. Northwest Country Cousins: A directed net that meets each evening on or near the frequency 3970 KHz at 1900 local time. S.W.O.T.: Side Winders On Two is a SSB 2-meter net, specializing in weak signal work which meets every Sunday evening at 20:00 on 144.250 USB. The net has check-ins from all over Northern California and is a lot of fun. R.A.M.S.: Here's another Sunday night net, Radio Amateur Mobile Society is a radio club in Sacramento that holds a HF net on 28.450 at 20:00; I alternate between RAMS and SWOT to keep my Sunday evenings active. Jefferson Noon Net: Meets at 12:00 local time on 7204 KHz. This is a traffic and Emcomm net with a round table discussion after traffic is passed Saturday Swap Net: Held each Saturday at noon, local time on 7240 KHz, this is a amateur radio yard sale on the air. I've bought and sold lots of gear over the years on this net. K6KRD Net: This is a group of guys who live in Western El Dorado County who get together every morning at 0730 to ragchew on 3974 KHz. They welcome anybody who has something positive to add to their discussion. Beaver State Net: You don't have to be a resident of Oregon to participate in this net! On 3920 KHz at 1745 local time.
