Ham radio and the great outdoors seem to go together, as it's multitasking at its best.  I love to operate mobile, portable and QRP in the great outdoors!

April 24, 2010:  I check into Jefferson Noon Net using portable, 40 meter dipole antenna, which can be set up in just a few minutes, and allows operation on all bands, from anyplace.

March 2010:  I operate as WS6L/7 from the motel parking lot in Winnemucca, Nevada and from the Whitehorse Ranch Road, in snowy Eastern Oregon.

Mojave, CA:  I operate portable 40 meter CW, QRP from my truck, parked in the Mojave Desert, while on a railfan and four wheel drive trip.  Later, I visit VOA's massive antenna farm, at Delano, CA.

Woodchuck Flat:  I operate 75 meter portable from my truck, and check into the 75 meter California Traffic Net from my campsite, at Woodchuck Flat campground, in the Tahoe National Forest.
