I joined the Ham Radio team at Robinson Flat campground, in the Tahoe National Forest, to provide radio communications for the 2009 Western States Trail Ride, popularly called the Tevis Cup.  Click on the links below to read about my experiences on the communications team, and about the busy activities at Robinson Flat, one of the busier stops along the 100 mile endurance ride.

Introduction to the Tevis Cup:  Have you ever ridden your horse a hundred miles in one day, up and over the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, while adhering to protocol that would make PETA smile?  This is the Tevis Cup...

Ham Radio Communications at Robinson Flat:  My experiences as a member of the Amatuer Radio team providing communications for the Tevis Cup at busy Robinson Flat.

About the Horses:  The event centers around horses, and this chapter is all about the care and feeding, literally, of the horses at Robinson Flat campground.

Robinson Flat People:  Write-ups and photos of some of the great volunteers I got to work with, who made this event go smoothly.

Robinson Flat Horse Hospital:  Robinson Flat Checkpoint had a complete hospital for horses, staffed by friendly and compitent volunteer veterinarians and assistants.

Norm Paul Water Truck:   A Peterbilt tank truck provided water for man and beast alike, and helped to tame the dust. Resource donated by a local company.

Blacksmith Shop:  You won't believe this... a complete horse-oriented machine shop in-a-trailer, with a forge, anvils and every tool needed to keep horses and saddles operational.
